Accommodation Name: Holiday Inn Cairo Maadi

Tuesday. Welcome to Egypt! On arrival at the airport you’ll be transferred to our hotel to spend the rest of today exploring Cairo at leisure.

Day 2: Alexandria

Location: Alexandria

Accommodation: Hotel

Accommodation Name: Paradise Inn Le Metropole

Meals Included: Breakfast, Dinner

Cairo - Alexandria. Discover the port city of Alexandria today as we drive to the Mediterranean coast. We’ll explore the ancient Roman catacombs, the largest of its kind in Egypt. The catacombs were only rediscovered in 1900, when a donkey accidentally fell into the access shaft. Our tour will also visit Pompey’s Pillar and the impressive Library of Alexandria (exterior) before we arrive at the Citadel of Qaitbay. This fortress was built on the site of the legendary Lighthouse of Alexandria, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The lighthouse was destroyed by a powerful earthquake in 1323AD and some of the same stones recovered from the ruins were used in the construction of this famous citadel.

Day 3: Alexandria

Location: Alexandria

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch

Alexandria - Cairo. Today we visit the sobering Commonwealth War Graves of El Alamein. Two bloody battles were fought here during the Second World War, which eventually saw the Allied forces defeat the Axis powers. This victory eliminated the threat to Egypt and the strategically important Suez Canal. Around 13,000 Allied soldiers were killed in battle. We’ll pay our respects to the fallen soldiers and explore the El Alamein Military Museum to learn more about the battles fought here. The museum also houses original war vehicles, weapons and uniforms. After the visit, we return to Cairo.

Day 4: Cairo

Location: Cairo

Meals Included: Breakfast

Today is free to explore Egypt’s capital as you please. You may wish to join our morning Backstreets of Cairo tour, which will take you to some of the lesser known sights in the city. Visit the hub of the 2011 Egyptian Revolution in Tahrir Square, wander down El Moez Street and explore the famous cave church of St Simon.

Day 5: Pyramids Of Giza

Location: Pyramids of Giza

Meals Included: Breakfast

Today we explore Egypt’s most famous attraction, with a visit to the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx. The only surviving of the Ancient Wonders of the World, the pyramids are also the oldest. Gaze in awe at the colossal structures - the largest of the pyramids, Cheops, was the tallest man-made building on Earth for 3,800 years. After our tour we continue to the necropolis of Saqqara to see the famous stepped Pyramid of Zhoser, which dates back to 2700BC. A visit to a government supervised Papyrus Museum will also be made at some point during today.

Day 6: Cairo

Location: Cairo

Accommodation Name: Overnight: Sleeper Train

Meals Included: Breakfast

Cairo - Aswan. On today’s excursion we visit the Grand Egyptian Museum. This newly opened site is just 2km from the pyramids and is home to a vast collection of artefacts from across ancient Egypt’s diverse history. Many of the exhibits have never been on public display before and many more have been recalled to the museum from across Egypt and the rest of the world. There is a full exhibition dedicated to the treasures of Tutankhamun and the museum makes use of modern technology including virtual reality.

After our guided tour of the Grand Egyptian Museum we head over to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization to visit the fascinating Royal Mummies' Hall, where the mummies of ancient Egyptian kings and queens are on display. Then there's time to relax back at the hotel before we board the night train to Aswan this evening.

Please Note: the Grand Egyptian Museum is scheduled to open in late 2024, though an official opening date has yet to be released. If travelling prior to the opening of the new facility we'll visit the Egyptian Museum instead.

Day 7: Aswan

Location: Aswan

Meals Included: Breakfast

We arrive in Aswan this morning and visit the beautiful Philae Temple. We’ll take a boat out into the Nile and sail to Agilkia Island to explore the site. The temple was carefully relocated from its original location to Agilkia in the 1960s, as part of a UNESCO project to save it from rising water levels after the flooding of Lake Nasser. Our final stop today is a perfume oil emporium and this evening is free to explore Aswan at leisure - perhaps check out the vibrant market.

Day 8: Aswan

Location: Aswan

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Aswan - Nile felucca cruise. This morning there’s an optional trip to Abu Simbel, the famous temple built by Ramses II and guarded by 4 colossal statues of the pharaoh himself. Later, we board our traditional felucca for a 2 night cruise down the mighty Nile. If sailing by felucca is not your style, consider upgrading to a 5 star luxury Nile Cruise, please see the tab above for prices. For more information about Nile Cruising please click [[here|130530]].

Day 9: Felucca Sailing & Kom Ombo

Location: Felucca Sailing & Kom Ombo

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Nile felucca cruise - Kom Ombo. Relax onboard the felucca as it makes its way downriver. This afternoon we’ll dock near Kom Ombo and visit the famous symmetrical temple, dedicated to the falcon god Horus and the crocodile god Sobek. We then return to the felucca for our final night onboard.

Day 10: Luxor

Location: Luxor

Meals Included: Breakfast

Kom Ombo - Luxor. Disembark the felucca today as we drive to Luxor, where the rest of the day can be spent at leisure. This evening, there’s an optional excursion to Luxor Temple, which is beautifully illuminated by hundreds of lights at night.

Day 11: Luxor

Location: Luxor

Accommodation Name: Overnight: Sleeper Train

Luxor - Cairo. Enter the lavishly decorated tombs of famous pharaohs today as we visit the Valley of the Kings. Gaze at the towering Colossi of Memnon and explore the mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut - Egypt’s second female pharaoh.

Later, discover the majestic Karnak Temple, one of the largest religious buildings in the world. The temple took 1,500 years to complete and features contributions from around 30 different pharaohs. Marvel at the giant columns of Hypostyle Hall before we return to Cairo on the night train this evening.

Day 12: Cairo

Location: Cairo

I have always wanted to visit Egypt, and just decided one day I needed to go, despite many friends and family concerns as to why I wanted to go. All their concerns and worries were immediately negated the moment I arrived in Cairo. From the moment I arrived to the time that I left, The On the Go team made me feel safe and welcome. There is so much I could say about the tour, but to sum up my feelings was that it was AWESOME!! I experienced and saw so much. Experiences that I will keep with me for a lifetime. What made it all that much better, was the other people in the tour group, many of which I still keep in contact with, including our tour Guide, Haytham. Haytham's knowledge and charismatic character shinned throughout the tour. I was lucky enough to have a night in Alexandria with my tour guide and he was able to show me some real life Egyptian culture outside the tourist attractions. Being able to have this experience and having the cultural education to learn more about the real Egypt was an amazing. We don't get to see that through the media. Egypt is an Amazing Place, and I will have to go back one day. On the Go Tours provided a warm and friendly environment to travel in. Every need and want was looked after by the guides and company reps. I would recommend On the Go Tours and Egypt as a Travel Destination

It was a truly wonderful tour I loved everything about it It was great to be met at the airport and helped though as it was as I left this helped so much so I say thank you once again to those people. I think it was Abdul and George Our Main guide Dino couldn't have been more helpful or friendly, nothing was too much trouble for him and he was so knowledgeable. It can't be easy to keep so many people happy at the same time. Our other guide on the cruise ship, Aaram (sorry I think I have the wrong spelling there) was very good too and so funny. The cruise ship itself was fantastic and the staff were tripping over themselves to attend us. The food and accommodation was top class. Abdul was on his "L" plates but I'm sure, in time, will do very well on his own While I say all we saw, the temples ( just kept getting bigger and bigger) the towns, all that was Egypton was great and guides couldn't have been better. I think I also need to say That the Abu Simbel part of the tour should be included in the price and not an add on, as nobody would go to Egypt and not want to go to Abu Simbel Also the Oasis Hotel was the worst of a great bunch, the location, with no shop nearby and the feeling you had nowhere to go but stay in your hotel room To one staff member I seemed too much of a inconvenience when I had to send my chicken back as it was uncooked. My plate was taken away with no words then brought back 10 minutes late, plate just dropped down in front of me again no words while he shuffled off. The chicken had been thrown in the deep fryer and was now dead. Hence it was left on the plate. This is the same staff member that took half and hour to actually acknowledge that we wanted to order the first night we were there These are only little things and it did not take away the fact that I had a fantastic holiday due to the fellow travellers, wonderful guides and "On the go Tours" THANK YOU I WILL RETURN

I have recently returned from a wonderful fortnight in Egypt. This took in the ancient port city of Alexandria, the war cemeteries and sites of El Alamein, and then carried on from the hustling capital city of Cairo to all the impressive monuments and temples that Egypt is famed for. The tour was made even better by the organisation that OTG provided, both at home, and also in Egypt. From the time I was met at Cairo airport by a representative, to the time I left, the whole tour ran like clockwork. We had three guides in Egypt. Shariff, who took us around Alex and El Alamein; Alam who guided us on the optional excursion around the 'Back Streets of Cairo', and finally Nader who accompanied us for the remainder of the tour. All three without exception were brilliant. Very easy to approach and converse with, fun and full of anecdotes about their country, and of life in Egypt generally. They are clearly all very proud to represent their country, and all should take groups for OTG around Egypt in the future. The trip was held together by Amr, the local rep who did all the behind the scenes work and admin. Again, nothing was too much trouble for him. The transport and drivers we had were also very good. The drivers were prompt and efficient, and the buses were clean, comfortable and very spacious. I enjoyed the felucca trip up the Nile, although the bathroom facilities were rather limited. That aside, the crew were very polite and efficient, and the chef cooked up some excellent meals for us! Possibly the only transport I wasn't so taken by was the overnight sleeper train service, particularly the journey from Cairo to Aswan. I didn't find it very comfortable, and spent most of the night awake! However, this is only a minor 'grumble', and I didn't let it detract from what was otherwise a first rate holiday. I personally had a terrific time, and would definitely recommend On The Go, and this tour, if anyone is thinking of visiting Egypt soon.

What a fabulous adventure I had, even though I had an injured leg. I loved it all except a few things, like the overnight train, we can only hope Egypt will get a nice new or near new train for this journey. As for our guide, Amon Zuzu well he was far more than a guide, he cared for my medical needs for my injured leg, as well as everything else that any of us required. but best of all was sharing his passion for Egypt and all its wonders. He had a great sense of fun and always kept us entertained. I can only rate the company, tour & the tour guide as EXCELLENT +++++++++++

I chose the On the Go Tours Alexandria & Ancient Egypt tour package with the Abu Simbel bolt-on and cannot recommend On the Go Tours for Egypt strongly enough. I strongly recommend the bolt-on to Abu Simbel to see the Great Temple of Ramesses II and the Small Temple of Nefertari. This was definitely one of the highlights of the trip and well worth the early wakeup. I would also recommend the felucca over the cruise. Walid was my guide for the two-day Alexandria and El Alamein portion of the tour, and Momo was my guide for Ancient Egypt. Both guides were incredibly knowledgeable and personable, and I would highly recommend both. Momo was exceptional in turning a group 15 strangers on the first day to a family by the end of the week. 10/10 would recommend to anyone wishing to travel to Egypt.

Our tour guide Aamer Ibrahim was amazing he was a fantastic story teller and very accommodating. He took us to local cafes and places so that we had an authentic experience and not just in the hotel. The Nile Cruise we were on was one of the only boats to have a balcony and it was amazing. The tour buses were clean and the driver always stayed with the bus. There were also toilets on board which was amazing.

Our tour guide MoMo was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. We were learning a lot without it being too much and had great laughs along the way. This was the first time I have travelled with On the Go tours and they were brilliant, we got to see so much, they were always on top of everything for us, getting late checkouts when needed and transport on time. The hotels were great and just had a lot of fun. I will and have recommended this tour and group to family and friends. Thank you I had a brilliant time and will definitely be booking with you again.

Momo our tour guide from On the go tours was amazingly insightful and knew what he was talking about, almost everyone I know said PLEASE don't have your honeymoon in Egypt it isn't safe, I'm glade we didn't listen. We felt safe 100% of the time in Egypt. The people are beautiful, all of them, cheeky, full of smiles, fun and kind. What can I say about sight seeing, well I've ticked off most of my childhood dreams with the trust and guidance of "On The Go Tours" cant wait to come back and do a solo trip and get all the good vibes again
