Tour Overview

It doesn't get much better than a seven-day sailing adventure through Thailand’s best islands. On this trip, you’ll spend your days looking out at the scenic seascapes, snorkelling through turquoise waters, relaxing on white beaches and wandering the craggy limestone peaks by boat. Welcome to the Andaman Sea! This is your chance to experience the region with the wind in your hair and the sun and salt on your skin. From the iconic landscape of Koh Phi Phi to bustling Phuket – this yacht adventure gives you plenty of time to swim, snorkel, paddleboard and kayak by day and chill out on the deck watching the sunset by night. With a like-minded group by your side and a private chef cooking up fresh Thai flavours – what better way to spend a week in Thailand?

Highlights

  • Leave vibrant Phuket and set sail on the beautifully calm waters of the Andaman Sea – by yacht no less!

  • Slip into the beach-loving life with long walks on the finest white sands and salty swims in the inviting waters of Thailand’s best beaches.

  • Sleep out beneath the stars, rocked by the gentle pitch of your yacht. Choose to spend a night on the deck and look up at stars in the balmy weather – this is freedom.

  • Feast on delicious food made with local ingredients – all made by your onboard chef, who will be whipping up Thai favourites daily.

  • Relax with the knowledge that the biggest decision of the day is whether to paddleboard, snorkel, swim with the tropical fish or kayak across shimmering seas.

Sa-wat dee! Welcome to Thailand. Your adventure begins in Phuket, Thailand’s largest and most popular island. Full of gorgeous beaches, this island also has a huge array of restaurants serving local flavours and plenty to explore, so you might want to consider arriving a couple of days early. Today, be ready to board and meet your skipper at 1 pm. After an orientation of the yacht, you’ll begin your journey across the Andaman Sea. Your skipper will select an island to anchor for the night where you’ll have time to enjoy a dip in the water, followed by a relaxing dinner on board and the first sunset of the trip!

Day 2: Koh Phanak - Koh Hong – Koh Phak Bia

After breakfast on board, you’ll head to Koh Phanak, where you have the option to visit the ice cream cave, full of stalagmites and stalactites. Next, head to Koh Hong, where you’ll be given an instructional briefing for a kayak or paddleboard trip to the island. Enjoy a delicious Thai lunch on board when you return, then head to Koh Phak Bia, where you’ll spend the evening. You can swim, kayak or paddleboard here, or simply kick back on the yacht and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Your chef will treat you all to a delicious Thai dinner this evening.

Day 3: Ko Daeng - Railay Beach, Krabi

Location: Ko Daeng - Railay Beach, Krabi

Accommodation: Overnight boat

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch

This morning after breakfast, you’ll sail to Ko Daeng – an island with bright blue waters full of diverse marine life and the perfect spot to snorkel. After you snorkel and have some lunch, sail towards Railay Beach in the late afternoon. There will be plenty of time to relax at the beach, read a good book in the sun or walk the coastline. Railay Beach has some great restaurants, too, so tonight you can join the group for an optional dinner on the beachfront at one of the local favourites that features live music. Later, head back to the yacht which will be anchored in the bay, via a longtail boat – a real Thai experience!

Day 4: Koh Phi Phi

Location: Koh Phi Phi

Accommodation: Overnight boat

Accommodation Name: Overnight boat

After breakfast on board, head towards the most talked about place in Thailand – Koh Phi Phi. For many, this is the iconic image of Thailand – two islands connected by a great arc of pure white sand, striking limestone cliffs and inviting waters. Travellers are drawn to the island thanks to its colourful marine life, as well as the array of shops, bars, restaurants and fire spectacles on the beach. You'll arrive at approximately 12 pm, offering plenty of free time to explore at your own pace. In the late afternoon, meet back with your skipper and other group members and sail to Koh Phi Phi Leh for the night.

Location: Koh Phi Phi Leh - Ko Khai - Koh Mai Thon

Accommodation: Overnight boat

Rise and shine for a picture-perfect morning! You’ll enjoy a leisurely breakfast prepared by your chef and then sail towards Viking Cave, where you’ll learn about the fascinating history of the limestone cliff and cave underneath. Next, sail to Ko Khai, a small collection of islands out in the middle of the Andaman Sea. Here, you can enjoy some excellent snorkelling and swim among brightly coloured corals and huge schools of tropical fish. After lunch on board, continue sailing towards Koh Mai Thon and arrive in the late afternoon. Celebrate the crystal-clear waters of the area with a spot of kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, swimming or snorkelling – or just take this chance to relax on board with a good book. Join your group for dinner on the boat and kick back with a drink, watching the sunset.

Location: Koh Hae (Coral Island) - Koh Man - Nui Beach, Phuket

Accommodation: Overnight boat

After lunch, sail toward the Koh Man Islands and stop for a snorkel between Koh Man and Nui Beach. If you prefer to be above water, you can instead enjoy some kayaking and paddleboarding here. Tonight, head to Nui Beach via dingy and enjoy an optional dinner at one of the many restaurants on the beachfront. Nui Beach is known for being one of the most beautiful beaches in Thailand, as it resembles a private beach and is only accessible by boat (or by trekking across the jungle). Return to the yacht, where you might want to consider spending your final evening sleeping under the stars out on the deck.

Day 7: Phuket

Location: Phuket

Meals Included: Breakfast

Take a last-minute swim this morning before a smooth sail brings you to your final destination – Phuket Island, at approximately 12 pm. Arguably Thailand’s most well-known and certainly its largest island, Phuket is full of sunshine exotica and modern pizazz. This is where your Andaman seafaring odyssey comes to an end. Phuket has some excellent beaches and a huge array of restaurants, hotels, bars and shopping, so you might want to stick around a couple of days to check it out properly. You’re free to explore all that Phuket has to offer, or to continue your onward journey home.

Accommodation

This trip is accommodated on board a 58 foot, twin-hulled sailing catamaran. Our boat is equipped with 1 x twin-share, 2 x double-share and 2 x quad-share cabins each with en-suite bathrooms and fans.***Please note if you are a couple and book into a quad cabin you will be split by gender into a male share and female share cabin. There are times where we may have two couples booked in a quad and we can ask if they would be happy to share [with another couple]. We will not willingly book a male or female into the same cabin without first notifying and checking with all travellers involved. If you are a couple and do not wish to be split into gender specific cabins we recommend you look at booking a twin share cabin***Fresh water is available for showers, and toilets are either electronic or the hand pump variety. The boat is equipped with a motor for times when the wind is not sufficient for sailing. Our boats are real catamarans and this is a real sailing trip. Catamarans are designed to keep sleeping areas to the absolute minimum of space, while maximising common areas as much as possible. The skipper will allocate the rooms on arrival to the boat and single travellers will be paired up with another passenger of the same sex, this may mean sharing a double mattress. The skipper will also be sharing the catamaran's facilities and sleeping quarters. While some may find the living quarters quite close, those who are looking to revel in the adventure and exhilaration of an authentic sailing trip usually find any discomfort is more than made up for by the spirit of this sailing experience. Please note space is at a premium on board a yacht so we highly recommend that travellers bring a soft sided bag or backpack.ADDITIONAL ACCOMMODATION:Please note that the majority of our sailing trips start and/or finish at a marina or port. For most of our destinations, we can provide transfers between the airport/hotel and the port/marina. Please check the joining and finish point information in the trip notes for details.

Just leaving a review to share how much I enjoyed my Central America trip. I thought the guide, Aura was so knowledgeable and organised and clearly a great ambassador for Intrepid. She gave us lots of information on each region, helped us organise anything we needed and dealt with queries from passengers very well and diplomatically. She made the trip run smoothly. She was also keen to explain the Intrepid vision and how the company values making a difference to locals and is a credit to your company. I did Guatemala and beyond and thoroughly enjoyed it - very fast paced, lots to see and do and a great overview of the region. I would definitely recommend 👍

I just completed my first Intrepid tour which was 33 days travelling around Central America - I had the time of my life! It was great to have the benefit of a guide (Fluffy was amazing!) and be able to ask questions at any point, but I also liked the freedom that you were permitted throughout. The group tour made boarder crossings seamless and the whole process felt easy - there was never one hiccup. As a solo female traveller, I felt safe throughout, and I cannot recommend Central America enough - the people, the food, the sun and the activities were just amazing :) Can't wait to book my next adventure soon!

I have just come back home after doing Intrepid's 10-day Vietnam Express Northbound tour. What a SUPERB tour. We saw lots and did lots, it was jam-packed full of sights and activities. Our tour leader, Tam, was the best ever. Very knowledgeable, organised and lots of fun too. The other 10 people on the group were all lovely. The places we visited were very interesting. We even visited local homes and ate just like the local people do. I highly recommend Intrepid to anyone considering touring a new country. This was my 5th tour with them and they have consistently been fantastic.

I have travelled with Intrepid a number of times now and can't recommend them enough. The trips are always exciting, full of history and immersive in the culture and environment. The office staff are great too and always happy to help with any questions you might have. Everywhere I have gone with the company has been different but the guides and itinerary have always been excellent and full of knowledge and passion for their country. Add in the social responsibility angle the company has and it top quality ethical practice and you can't go wrong

15-Mar-2024

I recently went on an 11 day tour of India with Intrepid and was impressed with every aspect of the tour, the tour leader and the organisation behind the scenes. I always travel alone so it was a big deal to join a tour, I didn't want to feel less independent or ferried about. I loved being part of a group and the things we saw and did on the tour, I would never have known about or seen if I had been by myself. I loved it from start to finish. Yes the overnight trains were not easy to sleep on, but I managed. Meeting locals on board was a high light for me. English is widely spoken in India and its amazing who you strike up a chat with. I had two problems on the tour - one my own fault and one hotel related. The support from Intrepid was amazing. I cannot thank them enough for going the extra mile to support me. I recommend Intrepid 100% and have gone from thinking an organised tour is for people who don't know about Lonely Planet and can't do solo stuff, to realising its a faster, better, more fun way to get to know a country truly and deeply whilst on a bit of a budget. I will book again and again with Intrepid. I loved it that much! Big thanks to tour leader Daddy H. Devender for his help on day one, and Nick in the Oz office for his fab customer care skills. Also the person who staffed the emergency whatsapp in India - you saved my sanity helping me get there a day late! THANK YOU ALL X

This was my first international solo trip, but I never felt “alone” - there was always someone to go shopping, hike, or grab a quick bite with. The itinerary was a great balance between organized activities, while still allowing free time for exploring. Each location was unique and charming in its own way. Spending the night in the holy city of Moulay Idriss and wandering the winding streets of Chefchaouen were especially memorable. Thank you Mustapha and Intrepid for an incredible adventure!

I have just completed a 12 day food tour of Vietnam, and had an amazing time. Our tour leader was great, knowledgeable and kind, who helped throughout the trip with recommendations for places on our free days, and spas. All the food we tried was delicious. It is a very fast paced tour, and Bon tried to maximise our experiences for the best.

13-Aug-2024

We had a fantastic time on the Botswana Highlights tour recently. We chose Intrepid because it seemed to suit what we wanted - well planned itinerary, small group, comfortable without being overly luxurious (and pricey), and supportive of the local community and environment. We weren't disappointed, and as we met with other like-minded travellers then we all had a great time. We are already planning our next Intrepid tour - maybe Vietnam & Cambodia :-)
