Day 3: Amman (B/-/-)

Location: Amman

Accommodation Name: hotel

Meals Included: Breakfast

In the morning you will travel to the Dead Sea at 400 meters (1,312 ft.) below sea level. This is one of the most magnificent natural and spiritual landscapes in the world and the lowest point on Earth. Find out that you can float without trying! From there, travel north to Pella in the Jordan Valley before continuing your journey to Um Qais, Gedara of the Bible (Mathew 8:28-43), for a spectacular view of the Sea of Galilee, the Yarmouk River, and the Golan Heights. Return to Amman in the late afternoon.

Overnight in Amman

Day 4: Jerash - Ajloun (B/-/-)

Location: Jerash

Accommodation Name: hotel

Meals Included: Breakfast

Enjoy a late morning tour of Jerash. Head north to Jerash [ancient Gerasa], the Graeco-Roman city, and a close second to Petra on the list of top-rated destinations in Jordan. Boasting an unbroken chain of human occupation dating back more than 6,500 years back in history, this city was hidden in the sand for centuries before being excavated and restored over the past 70 years. Jerash serves as a fine example of the grand, formal, and provincial Roman towns found throughout the Middle East. One may walk beneath the four imposing gates or down the \"Street of Columns\" north from the “Oval Plaza” while stepping over the tracks of chariot wheels which continue to be visible in the paving stones. From there, continue to Ajloun and tour the 12th-century Qallat ar-Rabadh, the Saracen Castle built by one of Saladins lieutenants in the campaign against the Crusaders.

Overnight in Amman

Day 5: Madaba - Petra (B/-/-)

Location: Petra

Accommodation Name: hotel

Meals Included: Breakfast

After breakfast, begin your trip south from Amman along the 5,000 year-old King's Highway, one of the most memorable journeys in the Holy Land, passing through a string of ancient sites. The first city you pass will be Madaba (Saint Georges Church), \"the City of Mosaics\". Ten minutes to the west you will find the most revered site in Jordan: Mount Nebo, the memorial of Moses, the presumed site of the prophet's death and burial place. A small, square church was built on the spot by early Byzantine Christians and later expanded into a vast complex. Continue further south to Kerak, famous for its crusader fortress with underground galleries, rooms, secret passageways, and its thick defensive walls pierced by narrow arrow slits where crusader archers held out bravely but in vain for over 100 years. It was the crusaders who made Kerak famous. The fortress was built in 1142 by Payen Le Boutellier, the lord of Montreal. He made Kerak the new capital of the province because it was situated on the king's highway, where it could control all traffic from north and south. Enjoy an optional lunch in Kerak (not included). Upon arrival at Wadi Musa, check in to your hotel.

Overnight in Petra

Day 6: Petra (B/-/-)

Location: Petra

Accommodation Name: hotel

Meals Included: Breakfast

Spend a full day exploring the many sites of Petra; carved into the rose-red Sharah Mountains by the Nabateans and lost to Civilization until it was re-discovered by the Swiss Burkhardt. Around 11,000 BC Stone Age man was already exploiting the abundant natural resources of the Petra region — particularly wild goats. By 7,000 BC some of the worlds earliest farmers were living in a walled village at Beidha, cultivating cereals and collecting nuts and fruits. But Petra really came to prominence in 7C BC when the Edomites settled on Umm al-Biyara and other mountain strongholds and built a town at Tawilan above Ain Musa, in the hills to the north.  Subject to Assyria, Babylonia, and then Persia, Edom in the 3C BC became the nucleus of an Arab state, the Nabateans Kingdom, and its capital Petra.  Originally from North Arabia, the Nabateans were first mentioned by the 1C BC historian Diodorus, who relates that in 312 BC Antigonus, the One-Eyed sent his general Athenaeus against ‘the land of the Arabs who are called Nabateans, at that time a nomadic people who raised cattle and sheep and could survive for long periods in the desert, where they created a network of secret underground reservoirs.  Athenaeus attacked a certain strong, though un-walled rock — perhaps the great massif of Umm al-Biyara at Petra, where the Nabateans had left their valuables, elders, women, and children while celebrating a festival, killed some of the Arabs there and made off with vast quantities of frankincense, myrrh, and silver.  Some 150 years later the Nabateans had settled, and Petra was the capital of an organized state. Walk through the Siq, a narrow and winding fissure between the cliffs, to reach the Treasury, the Roman Theater, the Courts, Qasr Bint Pharaon, the Temple of the Winged Lion, and other monuments. Enjoy a break for an optional lunch or you may wish to climb up to the Monastery.

Overnight in Petra

Day 7: Amman - Departure (B/-/-)

Location: Wadi Rum

Meals Included: Breakfast

After breakfast, depart for Wadi Rum on a 1.5-hour Bedouin jeep ride. Stunning in its natural beauty, Wadi Rum epitomizes the romance of the desert. With its \"moonscape\" of ancient valleys and towering sandstone mountains rising out of the sand, Wadi Rum is also home to several Bedouin tribes who live in scattered camps throughout the area. Climbers are especially attracted to Wadi Rum due to its sheer granite and sandstone cliffs, while hikers enjoy its vast empty spaces. Wadi Rum is probably best known because of its connection with the enigmatic British officer T.E. Lawrence, who was based here during the Great Arab Revolt of 1917-18. Much of David Lean's Lawrence of Arabia was filmed in Wadi Rum. Afterwards, you will be transferred back to Aqaba or Amman where your tour will end. Later in the evening, you will be transferred back to Queen Alia Amman International Airport to check-in for your onward flight.

07-Dec-2023

Booked Mystical Egypt tour with them visiting Cairo and a 03 Nights Cruise from Luxor to Aswan in May. All services were perfect since the time we arrived at the airport, we were met by a hospitable Indus Representative who helped us with the purchase of local SIM and currency exchange. He was always there in time to assist for transfers. The Amwaj Cruise which we took from Luxor to Aswan was a Gem. We had great guides and all sightseeing worked like a clockwork. We enjoyed visiting Karnak Temples, Temples of Edfu, Kom Ombo and the boat ride to see Phillae Temple. Evening entertainment on cruise were great and engaging. In Cairo and Aswan, we had ample leisure time to explore on own, the Pyramids were impressive and visiting Khan e Khalili was fun. Overall and impressive and enjoyable tour, Thanks to Indus Travels!

09-Jun-2023

Recently went on a Rhine River Cruise, a first for me. I must say the experience was exceptional, their tagline says. The group I was with were some of the most fun and interesting set of people I've ever traveled with. The ground transportation arrangements were top notch and comfortable. Variety in menu that we were provided with in the cruise was astounding. I was a bit worried if they'd have much options for me as I'm a vegetarian. But they not only had options, the taste was something I'd savor for foreseeable future. There's a reason Rhine cruises are popular owing to it's serene and picturesque route. Guided tours were very informative and gave us a bit of an insight of German culture. We had good amount of time to explore the towns on our own too. Strasbourg and Cochem were my favorite stops. Luckily the weather worked in our favour and it didn't rain the way it was predicted originally. No one from our group wanted the tour to end. If this trip was any indication, I can't wait to book my next trip with Indus Travels.

Indus Travel runs a highly professional organization. From customer service to brochures, bookings, tour guides, etc. and the consideration for their customers is superb. This was the first time I had travelled with Indus Travels. We took the Taste of Portugal Tour. Group numbers are small, accommodation comfortable and food excellent. The expert guide who accompanied us was outstanding - passionate, informative, engaging, and entertaining. This company is obviously at the heart of the itinerary planning, and attention to detail is second to none. I would highly recommend this company to anyone wanting a fun, relaxed, educational vacation with fine food - they will deliver! We will never forget this trip and we are already planning for another one to Wonders of Italy, Vienna, Budapest, and Prague.

We were looking for a customized, small group tour. We took a chance on Indus without knowing much about the company. We just returned from our trip to Greece and are more than highly please and satisfied with our experience. They planned an amazing itinerary, booked amazing hotels, hired knowledgeable tour guides and arranged high quality transportation services. Everyone went above and beyond to please us. We are already planning a trip for next year (2024) and will definitely use Indus to do so.

11-Jul-2023

Glimpse of Egypt Quick paced tour taken after Egypt opened back up to tourists, particularly Americans. Went in November and weather was beautiful. Decent hotels and overnight Nile cruise. You will see a lot on this tour and be aware there are some early wake ups. Lots of walking but doable if you're in decent shape. Overall a fun tour with all the sites you have only seen in books!

24-May-2024

Indus has some very good tour itineraries at very competitive prices. I called with several specific questions about land only vs. air included, and they were immediately responsive, and within hours had the website description updated to assist anyone else who might have the same questions. I called again with specific questions about insurance, and the first person to answer the phone was completely knowledgeable based on past experience and gave me good advice. Four stars vs. five only because I just made the booking yesterday, and withhold one pending how this whole trip turns out two months from now.
