Today, after breakfast, departure for a full day tour to discover Lisbon and Lisbon outskirts with its famous Riviera and the quite well-known resorts Estoril & Cascais as well as Sintra, also widely known for the many royal palaces - among others, the Palácio de Vila and the Fairy tale castle, Palácio da Pena. Stop in Sintra old city centre so one can to get to know the Town on your own. We will continue to Lisbon and will discover the Portuguese capital with its most emblematic historical sights: Jeronimos Monastery, Tower of Belém and the Monuments of the Navigators before getting to the city center.

Day 3: Lisbon - Obidos - Coimbra - Braga (B/-/-)

Today, after breakfast, you will be taken towards northern Portugal to explore the scenic landscapes. The first stop is Óbidos, a medieval town which first came to existence in the 13th century, protected by castle walls. Try the famous Ginjinha, a Portuguese liqueur served in a chocolate cup, a local delicacy (not included). From here, you will be conducted towards Coimbra, the student town strategically situated on a hill overlooking the Mondego River for a panoramic city tour including a visit to the 700-year-old university. Finally, you will arrive in Braga where you will have the evening at leisure.

After breakfast, you will have a full day guided tour in Santiago de Compostela. There is deep symbolism and joy here as it is one of the most awaited experiences and rituals for many pilgrims. The Cathedral was built between from 1075 to 1128, during the Christian reconquest at the time of the crusades. At night Santiago is another city, with crowded restaurants. Try some famous tapas of Galiza for example: Viera Gratinada (Toasted scallop), Pimentos Padrón (fried paprika peppers), Polvo a galega (Octopus galega style), tortilha espanhola (Spanish tortilla), empanadas or grilled fillet, all simply delicious! Get lost in the beautiful and safe streets of the historic city center. On the way back to Braga, you will stop in the charming small-town Ponte de Lima.

Day 5: Braga - Guimaraes - Porto (B/-/-)

Morning visit to Braga including the oldest cathedral in Portugal as well as Bom Jesus; a Portuguese sanctuary located in Tenoes, on the outskirts of Braga in northern Portugal. This sanctuary is a pilgrimage site that holds a monumental Baroque stairway which climbs as high as 116 meters. From here on, you will visit the historical center of Braga that offers the best scenic views of the mountains. On your way to Porto, you will stop in Guimaraes: a Unesco Heritage, often referred to as the “Cradle of Portugal” because of its association with the countrys first king Alfonso Henriques. Visit the ducal palace and enjoy a walk through the medieval center before getting to Portugals second-largest city: Porto; on your arrival you will visit one of the Port wine cellars including tasting.

After breakfast, enjoy a morning city tour of Porto including a panoramic drive to the mouth of the Douro River, the soaring cathedral, the richly decorated church of S. Then you will have an hour cruise on the Douro river, admire the sights over Ribeira Old section from the riverside. The afternoon is at leisure for you to keep exploring the city.

Today, departure from Porto toward Lisbon. On your way you will stop in Aveiro is also widely known as the Venice of Portugal. On your arrival you will have the evening at your leisure to explore. We recommend you taste the famous “Ovos moles” pastry or try a grilled fish in one of the several restaurants next to the fish market (not included). Then your next stop is to Fatima, counted among the largest centers of Mariano worship. You will visit the old and the new Basilica as well as the apparition's chapel. It is the birthplace of Lucia dos Santos, Francisco and Jacinta Marto, who are known to have witnessed three apparitions of Angel of Peace in the year 1916.
